How to stay in control during a stressful situation

It is important to create an anchor that will ground you during a difficult moment. Using a combination of both a physical and mental practice helps the intervention stay recorded in the subconscious mind, especially when it is repeated several times.

This exercise is very simple and effective:

1. Take a deep breath

2. While exhaling, rub your three fingers together (thumb, pointer, and middle) and say to yourself, “I feel relaxed, calm, and in control”’

3. Repeat this process at least 3 times until you regain control.

The next time you do the same practice, your brain will remember what it needs to do.

Having self-control is an important part of the process of change and one that will allow us to rewrite our story.
